Big biscuits for big, hard working appetites!

Biscuits are a staple in our house. We eat them with gravy for breakfast, dip them in soup for lunch, and lather them with butter and eat them as a side dish for dinner! The key to great biscuits aside from making them HUGE is buttermilk, well in my opinion  anyway.

Ranch Hand Biscuits

3 cups flour
1 tbsp baking powder
1 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
3/4 cup cold butter
1 1/2 cups buttermilk

Preheat oven to 475.

Whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Cut the cold butter into the dry ingredients (I use my fingers). Add the buttermilk and mix dough until just combined.

Place dough onto a flour surfaced and knead 3 or 4 times. Gently roll dough to 3/4″ to 1″ thick and cut out biscuits with a round biscuit cutter.

Place on baking sheet and brush with some melted butter.

Bake for about 12 to 14 minutes until golden brown.

Makes about 1 dozen yummy giant biscuits to enjoy anytime of the day!

Cheers,

Kimberley
